GSST 4310 Interdisciplinary Research and Analysis
This course provides the key knowledge and skills needed to undertake research-based problem-solving. It is an introduction to empirical research and analysis as used in behavioral sciences, intelligence, and security settings. Upon the completion of this course, students will understand and discuss the concept and language of research (e.g., hypotheses, variables, types of data, and analysis), will develop the ability to settle on a research topic area, to formulate a research question, to apply a theoretical framework, to identify and use valid and reliable measures, and to gather data, emphasizing the preliminary process of research design. Additionally, students will discuss the role of ethical dilemmas and conflicts of interest in research.
