BIET 6314 Ethics in Biomedical Research

This course examines ethical issues that arise when conducting biomedical research including risk-benefit analysis, informed consent, fair subject selection, clinical research trials in vulnerable populations, data security, transparency, conflicts of interest, and experiments on animals. Students will examine historical case studies and advances in medical research that elucidate the complex interplay of philosophical, social, scientific, and practical considerations that demonstrate the need for and characterize the field of biomedical research ethics.
