COMD 4340 Speech and Hearing Sciences

This course introduces students in audiology and speech-language pathology to the fundamentals of speech and hearing science including a review of basic acoustics, wave analysis, resonance and acoustics of the vocal tract, acoustic features of vowels and consonants, and suprasegmentals of speech. Information will be provided by class lectures, readings, videos, lab demonstrations, and class discussions.

For students on the Speech Pathology Concentration: Grade of C' or better in COMD 2310, COMD 3310, COMD 3315, COMD 3320, COMD 3330, COMD 3340, COMD 3355, COMD 3360, COMD 4310, COMD 4330, COMD 4360, and COMD 4365. For students in the Audiology Concentration: Grade of "C" or better in COMD 2310, COMD 3310, COMD 3320, COMD 3340, COMD 3360, COMD 4310, COMD 4330, COMD 4360, AUDI 3305, AUDI 3325, AUDI 3345, and AUDI 4355.
