POLS 4342 Democratic Theory

Few political ideas have as long a history or captured the popular imagination as has democracy. This course will offer a historical overview and critical analysis of democratic theory from Ancient Greece to contemporary ideas. Major authors, issues, an arguments will be covered, including those for assemble, direct, representative, participatory, deliberative, economic, and radical democracy.
