SOCW 4354 Generalist Field Education I
This is the first of a two-semester course. This practicum course requires the completion of 200 clock hours in an approved practicum setting, which prepares student interns for generalist social work practice through the application of the generalist intervention model (GIM) with individuals, groups, families, organizations and communities. The student interns will use supervision and consultation to enhance generalist practice skills. The student interns are expected to put into practice the techniques and interventions learned in their courses such as case management duties, referrals, assessments, and advocacy. The student interns will be able to identify ethical issues and dilemmas associated with anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion (ADEI) with the delivery of services and programs to individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.
Prerequisite
Admission into the School of Social Work and approval by the Office of Field Education.
Corequisite
Students must be concurrently enrolled in
SOCW 4301.
