SOCW 4301 Social Work with Groups
This course prepares social workers to work with groups by understanding group membership, processes, dynamics, leadership, and conflicts. Students will learn assessment methods, intervention strategies, and evaluation techniques. The course emphasizes social work ethics, values, and self-reflection to address bias, power, and privilege. It also focuses on cultural responsiveness and respect for diverse populations. Foundational theories and frameworks, including human behavior, person-in-environment, and interprofessional concepts, will be applied to group practice.
Prerequisite
Admission into the School of Social Work and grade of "C" or better in
SOCW 3323.
Corequisite
Students must be concurrently enrolled in
SOCW 4354.
