SOCW 3323 Social Work with Individuals

This course will introduce students to working with individuals implementing the generalist intervention model, focusing on ecological and strengths perspectives. Students will learn to examine principles and frameworks for social justice practice and develop strategies to empower individuals through assessment, service planning, and intervention. Students will reflect on their biases and explore their own lived experiences as they learn to provide culturally responsive interventions that honor the lived experiences of individuals. Through a combination of theoretical frameworks, case studies, videos, social media, role play, and hands-on experiential applications, students will be able to learn about and practice eclectic strategies and interventions with the individuals they work alongside.
