SOCW 3321 Human Behavior and the Social Environment I

This course provides an in-depth exploration of the complex interactions between individuals and their social environments. It examines how various factors—including culture, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, gender, and age—impact human behavior and developmental stages across the lifespan. Utilizing a strengths-based perspective, students will analyze theoretical frameworks such as systems theory, ecological theory, and developmental theory. Through case studies, discussions, and experiential learning, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the social contexts that influence individual behavior and the implications for social work practice.
