COMM 6338 Political Communication

This course explores the origins and functions of political organization, beginning with classical foundations in ancient Greece and extending to modern political systems. Students analyze the development of political belief systems, their philosophical and ideological roots, and their integration into cultural, educational, and legal institutions. Emphasis is placed on the relationship between politics and economics, with attention to systems such as communism and democratic capitalism. The course also examines contemporary American political communication, focusing on media, public opinion, culture, advertising, and the press in the context of electoral politics.
