CSCI 2310 Applied AI: Data-Driven Models and Validation

Algorithmic decision-making systems are everywhere, from social media feeds and analytic dashboards to scientific discovery and of course AI chatbots. This course gives students the tools to deconstruct, design, and critically evaluate the predictive models behind these technologies using core data science and machine learning techniques. It emphasizes problem formulation: understanding your data, selecting appropriate algorithms, and recognizing the limitations and implications of the results. Students will engage in hands-on work with datasets, platforms, and models, learning to rigorously validate performance to ensure robust and reliable insights.
