PHIL 1314 Introduction to Social Thought
A systematic investigation of the nature of social life and the forces that structure it. Topics may include the tension between individual and collective identity; social ontology (what kinds of social entities exist); the nature of norms, authority, and institutions; social systems and orders; social justice; group action; cultural difference; forms of power; oppression and marginalization; social change; and the ethics of solidarity.
