PHIL 1366 Philosophy and History of Science and Technology

This course investigates the philosophical foundations and historical development of science and technology from Antiquity to the present. Students examine how scientific ideas and technological innovations have shaped and been shaped by culture, politics and ethics. Topics include the nature and development of scientific reasoning and scientific paradigms, the relationship between science and society, and the ethical implications of technological change. The course encourages critical reflection on the role of science and technology in modern life and their impact on personal and social responsibility.
