SOCW 2361 Introduction to Social Work

This course provides an overview of the social work profession, including its history, core values, ethical principles, and the variety of roles social workers play in practice settings and society. It explores key social work frameworks such as person-in-environment and strengths-based approaches, while examining practice across micro, mezzo, and macro levels. The course also addresses the impact of social policies on individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities at local, state, national, and global levels. Through case studies and interactive discussions, the course deepens their awareness of the profession and the responsibilities associated with various social work roles.
