PHYS 8360 Advanced Optics

This course continues the material covered in PHYS 5360. The topics include but are not limited to wave optics, Gaussian beams, and laser resonators, propagation of light in media, principles of electro-optic devices, waveguides, and fiber optics. The course will also include an introduction to the newly established field of photonic crystals, photonic band theory, and band gaps, for applications to optical signal processing.
