PHYS 8364 Advanced Nano-photonics Materials and Devices

Nanophotonics is a new field of physics which studies the interaction of light with matter on the nanometer scale. The course continues the material covered in PHYS 6364. The topics include negative index materails, photonic crystals, integrated photonic circuits and their fabrication techniques. In particular, the course will cover high-Q resonators for applications as sensors, optical filters, etc. The course will also include a project from a selected list of topics approved by the instructor.
