MSEN 8312 Spectroscopic Techniques

This course will focus on an in-depth learning of the interaction (absorption, emission, and scattering) of electromagnetic radiation with atoms and molecules. Students will learn about crystallographic structure, chemical composition, and physical properties of materials through the use of non-destructive techniques such as x-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, elemental dispersive spectroscopy, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and UV-Vis spectroscopy.
