Alternative Certification Program: Principal Certification - Accelerated Online Program
Overview
The accelerated online Alternative Certification Program (ACP) in Principal program is designed to prepare candidates to earn the State Board of Educator Preparation Certification issued Principal Certification.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the graduate program, prospective candidates must first meet all requirements for graduate admission to The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, as well as the other requirements listed below:
- A master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education that at the time was accredited or otherwise approved by an accrediting organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
- Currently employed in a PK-12 educational position.
- Official Transcripts.
- Vita/Resume that includes educational background and work experience.
- Personal statement.
- Video presentation.
- Clear Criminal Background Check (CBC).
- *Two years of teaching experience.
- Copy of Educator Certificate.
- Copy of Teacher Service Record

Note: A principal candidate must have a minimum of two years of teaching experience to be eligible to take the state certification exams and become state certified.
