MEDI 8000 Foundations of Medicine

This course introduces first-year medical students to the essential principles of biochemistry, cell biology, histology, anatomy, genetics, physiology, pharmacology, and microbiology. Emphasizing the normal function of molecules, cells, tissues, and organ systems, the course fosters an understanding of how alterations at the molecular or cellular level can lead to disease. Through a blend of interactive lectures, small-group discussions, laboratory sessions, and problem-based learning, students develop analytical and problem-solving skills necessary for clinical reasoning.
