MECE 6315 Propulsion

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles of propulsion systems used in aerospace applications. Students will identify and explain the physical and thermodynamic principles governing propulsion, including conservation equations, compressible flow dynamics, and boundary layer behavior. Learners will examine air intake and nozzle flows, interpret combustion processes, and evaluate thrust generation and cycle analysis. The course covers gas turbine and rocket propulsion systems, including ramjet, turbojet, turbofan, and turboprop engines, as well as solid, liquid, and hybrid rocket engines, with emphasis on design, analysis, and performance characteristics.
