MECE 6330 Tribology

This course introduces the fundamentals of tribology, the science and technology of interacting surfaces in relative motion. It focuses on friction, wear, and lubrication, emphasizing their roles in real-world engineering applications. Topics include surface properties, contact mechanics, adhesion, friction behavior, wear mechanisms, bearing material selection, and the design and analysis of thrust and journal bearings. Students will study both theoretical principles and practical applications, gaining a solid foundation for advanced studies and engineering careers.
