GSST 3321 Geopolitics & Security
This course examines how geography, political power, and strategic decision-making shape global and regional security. Students will analyze classical and critical geopolitical theories and evaluate factors such as territorial disputes, energy routes, maritime choke points, and emerging domains such as cyber and space. They will also assess the security implications of climate change and resource scarcity through historical and contemporary case studies. Through rigorous analysis of historical and contemporary case studies, students will develop sophisticated analytical tools to assess how geographic factors remain central to security strategy and the evolving global order.
