HIST 3318 Special Historical Topics of the U.S. South

This course examines the history of the U.S. South through a topical approach. Areas of study may include settlement and regional development, economic structures and labor systems, agriculture, slavery, regionalism, antebellum society and the “Old South,” plantation life, the Civil War and Reconstruction, urbanization, the rise of the “New South,” civil rights movements, and the emergence of the “Sunbelt South.” May be repeated for additional credit when the topic varies.
