PHTH 8310 Management of Patients with Chronic Disorders
This course covers physical therapist care of medically complex patients with multi-system involvement. Content focuses on the physical therapist's role in the management of diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and in the acute care/ICU setting. Complicating factors such as age, malnutrition, pain, obesity, and other comorbidities are included. Emphasis will be placed on strategies of prevention, risk management, and exercise prescription to mitigate the progression of these disorders.
