PHTH 8312 Management of Patients with Neuromuscular Disorders I
This course will focus on examination, evaluation, and interventions of patients with acquired neurologic and neuromuscular disorders (such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and vestibular loss). The course will provide the student with an understanding of the pathophysiology and physical therapy management related to these types of neuromuscular disorders. Emphasis will be placed on epidemiologic and etiologic characteristics, injury mechanisms, symptomatology, pathology, and management and prognosis of specific neuromuscular disorders as well as treatment strategies to mitigate functional loss and restore or adapt movement to maximize patient function and independence.
