PHTH 8351 Physical Therapy Examination Techniques

This course introduces physical therapist examination and screening techniques for patients across the lifespan. Students will learn to perform a basic physical examination, joint motion assessment and measurement, muscle strength and flexibility testing, neuromuscular screening, vital signs, postural, balance, and gait assessment, and other examination and screening techniques. Further, they will learn to interpret the results of their findings and identify and correct or adapt movement substitutions. The course will emphasize identifying anatomical structures, body mechanics, handling skills, professional communication, and documentation learned in this and previous courses.
