HGEN 8310 Genetic Epidemiology and Statistical Genetics

This course centers on genetic epidemiological approaches to complex diseases that are influenced by genetic and environmental factors and their interactions.  Study designs and statistical genetic methodologies appropriate for a wide range of data sets and complex diseases from global populations will be examined.  Topics include segregation and heritability analyses, linkage analysis and association analysis (including genome-wide association scans), and the analysis of genotype-by-environment interactions.  Methods appropriate for rare and Mendelian diseases, common complex traits, and quantitative traits will be discussed.
