HGEN 8350 Advanced Topics in Complex Disease Research

This course offers in-depth molecular genetic and statistical genetic knowledge of complex genetic diseases. These include common chronic diseases, such as obesity and diabetes, that result from the effects of multiple genes and environmental influences. The course will focus on the genetic analysis of such diseases, including the study of epigenetics and polygenic factors. The course also will include a critical review of current research literature, experimental design, and data interpretation related to complex disease genetics. May be repeated for credit when the topic varies.
