HGEN 8365 Advanced Topics in Human Evolutionary Genetics

This course will cover the use of genetics for the examination of human evolution.  It will examine how evolutionary forces that act upon populations lead to the observed distribution of human variation. Approaches to making evolutionary inferences from genetic data will be examined. These may include the impact of these forces on genomic variation, the ramifications for identifying causal variation underlying heritable traits, the evolution of quantitative traits, and the testing of evolutionary hypotheses.  Timely topics will be chosen based on current areas of active investigation in the field. May be repeated for credit when the topic varies.
