SOCW 6302 Social Welfare Policies & Programs
This course examines the development, implementation, evaluation, and impact of social welfare policies and programs aimed at promoting equity and social justice. Students will explore historical and contemporary policy frameworks, analyzing how these policies address issues such as poverty, discrimination, health care access, environmental stewardship/justice, education, and human rights. The course emphasizes the role of social workers as advocates for change and critically evaluates the effectiveness of various programs in achieving social justice outcomes. Through case studies, policy analysis, and community engagement, students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the intersection between policy, practice, and social equity, preparing them to advocate for transformative change in diverse contexts.
