SOCW 6366 Grant Writing and Program Development

This course provides students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to develop, write, and manage grants for social service programs and initiatives. Emphasizing both theory and practical application, students will learn the key components of the grant writing process, including identifying funding sources, preparing a letter of intent, writing compelling proposals, developing budgets, creating reports, and understanding the requirements of various funding organizations such as government agencies, private foundations, and corporate sponsors. The course will also cover the fundamentals of program development, including needs assessment, program design, logic models, and evaluation methods. Students will gain hands-on experience through the creation of a grant proposal for a social work-related program, where they will apply best practices in proposal writing and program planning.
