SOCW 6321 Practice with Individuals and Families

This course provides an in-depth exploration of social justice and anti-racism frameworks as they apply the generalist intervention model in practice with individuals and families. Students will examine principles and frameworks for social justice practice and develop strategies to empower individuals through assessment, service planning, and intervention. Through a combination of theoretical frameworks, case studies, videos, social media, and experiential applications, students will gain skills to provide culturally responsive interventions that honor lived experiences of individuals and families. Emphasizing the importance of culturally responsive practice and intersectionality, the course will equip students to engage effectively with diverse clients and communities, paying special attention to individual differences through a strengths perspective.
