SOCW 6337 Multi-Dimensional Clinical Assessment from a Trauma Informed Lens

This course offers an in-depth exploration of multi-dimensional clinical assessment techniques through a trauma-informed perspective. Students will learn to evaluate individuals’ psychological, emotional, and social functioning while considering the impact of trauma on their lives. The course emphasizes the importance of understanding clients' histories and contexts to formulate holistic assessments that inform effective interventions. Students will engage with various assessment tools and methodologies, focusing on the integration of trauma awareness into each stage of the assessment process. Through case studies, role-playing, and collaborative exercises, students will develop skills to conduct comprehensive assessments that prioritize safety, empowerment, and resilience.  This course aims to equip students with the skills necessary to conduct thorough and compassionate clinical assessments, fostering a deeper understanding of clients' experiences and enhancing the effectiveness of social work interventions.
